Overview
Monday to Friday involves tasks specific to interns, while on weekends, interns contribute to commercial vessels as assistant biologists, participating in data collection and photo ID responsibilities. They also assist at the African Penguin and Seabird Sanctuary. Our dedicated fleet of vessels is utilized for research and animal rescues.
This 4-week internship focuses on providing academic and field-based skills training modules for marine science undergraduates and recent graduates in natural science and biology. Emphasizing ecological studies and technology utilization, our goal is to offer students experiences that will enhance their career paths. We have affiliations with various universities worldwide, and students can inquire about potential research projects post their internship experience.
- ● Monday transfer from Cape Town City centre at the beginning of your programme
- ● Monday transfer to airport/back to City centre at the end of your programme (make sure to book flight after 9PM, if on the Monday)
- ● Accommodation at International Marine Volunteer Centre
- ● Trips aboard commercial operations as an Assistant Biologist – option to go in the cage if time and space permits
