Overview
Are you pursuing a career in medical field? Would you like to travel the world while gaining hands-on experience in your chosen profession? Costa Rica is more developed than most of the other Central American countries but sadly, many people from poor and rural areas still have limited access to quality medical care. These poor people are not able to afford medicines and medical treatment. They also lack basic health awareness on common diseases and health management which causes them to suffer from many health problems.
In our medical volunteering program in Costa Rica, your placement and duties will vary depending on your education, skills and level of experience as well as the needs of the community. You will learn about a variety of illness and injuries, shadow local doctors and nurses and assist them in their tasks. You will monitor the patients, provide them medical advice, treat minor ailments and provide first aid. You may also be involves in health maps and health education programs. By joining this program, you will get an invaluable experience observing professional health staffs and leaning from them. You will also make a real difference in the lives of disadvantaged people who are in need of healthcare, thus ensuring their well-being which in turn will affect the community’s overall health. You will also gain an insight into the healthcare system of Costa Rica while honing your medical skills.
