Overview

Do you want to experience one of the most unique ecosystems in the world and do your part to save and preserve it? Are you passionate about conservation and want to immerse yourself in a remote wilderness? Ecuador is the home to amazing rainforests and a wide array of wildlife found nowhere else on the planet. Sadly, these valuable cloud forests are in critical danger today due to their constant depletion for new settlements and agriculture activities. The destruction of these forests will have negative impact on the environment worldwide and disturb the delicate ecological balance. It has become crucial to safeguard these forests for our own survival and for the animals who live in these forests.

In this volunteer program, you will work under the supervision of an experienced environmentalist in a biological reserve located in the Andean cloud forest. Your daily activities will vary day by day according to the needs of the reserve as well as your personal background. Volunteer duties include maintaining trails and fences, patrolling reserve’s borders, gathering scientific data for research work and restoring the habitats. You will also assist with the community vegetable garden, transportation of supplies as well as be a part of awareness workshops and eco-tourism tours. Your efforts in this program will have a tremendous impact in the environment and will safeguard these important rainforests for our future generations. Your work will not only help the environment but will also benefit countless wildlife and the surrounding communities. You will also get a hands-on experience with conservation work and an opportunity of a lifetime to experience the beautiful natural surroundings. There are no specific requirements for this program, although basic Spanish skills will be helpful.
