Overview

Are you interested to gain invaluable medical experience while travelling and exploring Ghana? Do you have experience in healthcare and want to use those skills and passion to help those in need? Many citizens in Ghana fail to fight treatable diseases and have lost their lives due to lack of access to proper healthcare. The public hospitals and health centers lack sufficient medical professionals and equipment. Moreover, due to the lack of awareness, diseases such as HIV, malaria, typhoid, dengue and tuberculosis become an epidemic. There is a great need to promote health education in Ghana, especially in poor and rural communities.

Your responsibilities in this program depending on your expertise and experience. Volunteer work will include assisting medical staff and doctors with their tasks, measuring temperature, BP, height and weight of patients, administering immunization, treating minor wounds or injuries, dispensing medications, counseling patients, and helping in health camps among others. You will learn from doctors during major procedures by shadowing them. By joining this program, you will support the healthcare system of Ghana as well as gain a practical experience with medical work which will be helpful for your medical career. You will also provide much need relief to the local medical staffs while making a positive impact in the health of many suffering people and providing them with necessary treatment. Your efforts towards increasing health awareness will benefit the local community and help prevent various common diseases in Ghana.
