Overview

Are you a medical professional, student or a doctor? Are you interested in sharing your skills in order to treat people in need while traveling in Ghana? If your answer is yes, IFRE Volunteers' healthcare volunteer program Ghana is a great fit for you.

The healthcare situation has been worsening at an alarming rate in Ghana. Due to poverty and lack of health awareness, rural people continue to succumb to treatable diseases. There is also a great lack of healthcare professionals. To change this situation, IFRE invites medical volunteers like you so that you can make a real difference while also gaining international medical experience.

As a volunteer, you will shadow local doctors and nurses. Your daily activities include providing basic first aid, dispensing the necessary medications to the patients, stitching and dressing wounds, helping patients with physical therapy and rehabilitation, giving immunizations, and promoting health education. At times, you will also get involved in raising awareness among local people about the importance of personal hygiene. This medical volunteer experience in Ghana is an eye-opening experience, providing you with a great deal of international work experience in a variety of departments.

Important Information

Volunteers need to be a medical student or need prior experience or training in the medical field. Volunteers are not allowed to perform major exams or surgeries, you will shadow and work directly with a doctor or nurse. You should also be 18 years old to participate in this program.
