Overview
Do you want a once-in-a-lifetime adventure on a tropical island while also helping to protect a critically endangered species from extinction? Participate in this program and contribute to preserving the endangered sea turtles. The population of sea turtles in Bali is decreasing at an alarming rate due to growing construction projects, illegal fishing industry and habitat destruction. There is a need for strong determination and efforts to protect the rare endangered turtles.
After joining this project, you will work with the local people and conservation staff to help protect these at-risk sea turtles. Specific tasks include cleaning turtle tanks, placing eggs in the hatchery, collecting the baby turtles upon hatching, nurturing them and preparing them for release, taking care of sick and injured turtles, monitoring their health. Apart from volunteering, you will also get to experience vibrant local cultures and traditions. There are no specific skills and qualifications needed to join this project. All you need to have is an open mind and a big heart to help protect the threatened sea turtles.
