Overview

English is an unfamiliar language for the monks who have spent most of their lives in isolation. These monks live, study and practice Buddhism only in their native language. In the world of rapid globalization, the lack of communication skills in English is a major drawback for them. English is the language that will allow the monks to spread the teaching of the Buddha to other countries. Therefore, IFREV volunteers teaching English to Buddhist monks program aims to help these Buddhist monks to learn English.

As a volunteer, you will teach the monks English skills and involve in healthy discussions concerning their culture and childhood. You will also organize extra-curricular activities such as games and drawing. Join this amazing teaching project and give these monks education for a better future.

Important Information

You must be 18 years or older and speak English. Volunteers must show a high level of respect to the monks, the Sherpa community, and the rules and customs of the monastery. You should behave as a good role model for the young monks, and dress conservatively.
