Overview
Have you dreamed of immersing yourself in the hallowed halls of a Buddhist monastery? How would you like to help teach young monks English and empower them to spread their message of peace to the world?
Buddhist monks are an integral part of Nepalese society and identity. However, for centuries, these monks have been isolated from mainstream society. For them, English is a difficult language to learn. These monks spend their time living, studying and practicing the teachings of Buddha in their native language. This is a drawback for them, as English is needed to spread such teachings the outside world. Hence, RCDP's volunteer opportunities in Nepal provide these Buddhist monks with an environment to learn and practice English.
As a volunteer, you will teach English to young monks and support recreational and artistic activities. You will engage them in healthy discussions regarding their culture and their childhood. You will organize extra-curricular activities such as games or drawing, singing, and dancing activities, among others. You will also help in carrying out administrative tasks if needed. By taking this spiritual initiative and teaching English to Buddhist monks, you will contribute to changing their lives for a better future.
