Overview

Our Nutrition Program welcomes students and professionals with backgrounds in nutrition, dietetics, and global health. It's not just for experts; even university students can participate in this approved internship opportunity. By joining, you'll not only learn about Filipino food culture but also make a significant impact.

Our program addresses malnutrition among underprivileged children, many from low-income families without access to nutritious meals. We provide these children with daily hot lunches (Monday to Friday) to improve their health. Simultaneously, we educate parents and the community on proper nutrition through informative lectures and meal preparation demonstrations.

We actively encourage local parents to volunteer alongside foreign volunteers, creating a practical exchange of nutrition knowledge. Our program serves two vital purposes: nourishing children and promoting nutritional awareness, all in a meaningful and enriching experience.

Important Information

While volunteers are assigned to their specific programs, Volunteer for the Visayans (VFV) offers side projects that they may get involved with during their down time. VFV supports over 300 children sponsored by individuals from all over the world. Volunteers could get involved by helping prepare lunch for the children who come our three communities. They may also help out with tutorials. Kids could benefit from a native English speaker. Reading and comprehension and spelling are some of the areas that our children need help with.

Every month we distribute groceries and other essential items to our sponsored kids. From purchasing, to sorting, and distribution, we could also benefit from the assistance of volunteers. VFV is also involved in various community projects which are donation based. Whenever we have outreach activities, we ask volunteers to join us. Our side projects serve as a way for the volunteers to see the different facet of the organization. We are not simply an organization that offers volunteer opportunities. We do more.
