Overview
Do you want to give the gift of the knowledge to disadvantaged children in Africa? Do you want to volunteer in South Africa Teaching Program & immerse yourself in the deep culture of Africa in a safe and rewarding way?
The outlying areas of Cape Town face tough English education problems. Though English is widely spoken all across the country, it’s beyond the reach of the impoverished. The schools attended by this part of the population often lack the necessary environment for learning quality English. The public schools are commonly underfunded and do not have trained professionals to guide the students. For this reason, RCDP's volunteer teaching in South Africa program teams up with local schools to improve this situation.
When you join this volunteer teaching program, you will be placed either in a kindergarten or in a primary or secondary school. Your responsibilities in the kindergarten classes will be to teach your students nursery rhymes, organize games, teach them various motor skills, and familiarize them with animals, shapes, colors, the alphabet and numbers. On the other hand, in primary and secondary schools, you will teach English conversational skills and other subjects.
As more students are attending school than ever before, volunteering to teach in South Africa has a significant positive impact that reverberates into the future, as higher levels of education pull more and more people out of poverty.
