Overview

IFRE Volunteers' elephant program in Sri Lanka helps to provide care and attention to the sick, injured, and abandoned elephants. If you are fond of playing and taking care of animals than this elephant conservation project is an ideal choice for you.

As a volunteer, you will be taking care of elephants and learning about their behavior. You will work closely with the mahouts (elephant handlers) in feeding and bathing of the elephants. You will ensure that the elephants are healthy and safe at all times. At times, you will lend a helping hand for tourism promotion and eco-farm maintenance as well. Your passionate effort will benefit the elephants and the local people as well.

Moreover, you will also assist in English lessons for a community after-school program and an eco-farm (to grow healthy, fresh, and organic produce and medicine for the elephants) started by the elephant project.
