Overview

Are you a medical student or working in the medical field and want to gain valuable medical experience abroad? Do you dream of making a huge impact on the lives of those suffering without proper access to healthcare? Sri Lanka is still recovering from its turbulent history of civil wars and many of its citizens are struggling with poverty. There is much economic inequality among the people and the poor segments of the Sri Lankan society have little access to basic necessities, including healthcare. The country also suffers from infectious diseases that is on the rise due to lack of proper health awareness. There is an urgent need to address this issue in Sri Lanka.

Your responsibilities in this program will depend on your skill set and expertise. You will be placed in a renowned local hospital in the department of your choice. Your general duties will include checking patients and providing first aid, vaccinations and medication. Though, you will not be allowed to perform major medical procedures and surgeries, you will be able to shadow and work closely with experienced doctors and other medical staffs. You will also promote health education and medical advice to the patients. By joining this program, you will learn about various procedures and treatment from medical experts and specialists that will be useful for your future career. You will gain a rewarding experience helping patients in need and improving the quality of their lives. Important Information

Volunteers below the age of 18 years will need to submit parental consent or must be accompanied by an adult guardian. You need to be a pre-med student, nursing or medical student or have a professional background in Medical or Healthcare for this program.
