Overview
Have you ever dreamt of changing the lives of underprivileged children? Would you like to discover the beautiful Island of Sri Lanka and its deep culture?
Sri Lanka is struggling to help the rising number of orphan children. The only choice left for the impoverished children is to take refuge in orphanages. The orphanages of this country try their best to provide food, shelter and care for all orphans; but these organizations lack adequate support from the government to accomplish this goal. IFRE Volunteers' Sri Lanka orphanage volunteering program tries to help these orphanages and care centers to take care of the underprivileged children.
As a volunteer, you will take care of these children with love. Your role is to teach them basic English, math, science, and other subjects of interest. You will participate in meal preparation, help children with their homework, and take part in playtime activities. You will also give them tips and precautions for personal hygiene. At times, you will organize extracurricular activities to help them socialize. You are encouraged to generate new ideas to keep the children engaged.
There are no specific qualifications needed to be a part of this orphanage in Sri Lanka volunteer program. Your involvement will change the lives of these orphans by instilling in them the necessary confidence to face challenges.
Important Information
All travelers need electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) to be able to enter Sri Lanka. Visa on arrival is not available so you need to secure a tourist visa before heading to Sri Lanka for volunteering in the orphanage project. You can extend your visa by paying a visit to the Department of Immigration in Colombo.
