Overview
Are you looking to make a difference in the world? Do you dream to change lives of poor and disadvantaged children in Africa? Almost a fifth of the Ugandan population lives in extreme poverty, and lack of proper access to education is one of the primary reason behind this lingering problem. Many kids from poor socio-economic backgrounds are unable to attend private schools, and as a result they are left behind when it comes to good career opportunities. The public schools lack the resources, infrastructure and qualified teachers. This causes the children to be stuck in poverty and unable to come out of it.
In this program, you will primarily work as an English-teacher and teach this valuable skill to the poor children. You will be conducting independent classes as well as working in conjunction with the local teachers. In addition to teaching English, you can involve yourself in organizing extracurricular activities like games, sports, competitions etc. and help with administrative duties in the school. You will be also be responsible for encouraging the children towards learning. You will help the less fortunate children get the possibility of a prosperous and bright future. You will equip the children with a valuable skill that will help them compete in today’s job market. By uplifting the children, you are also helping reduce poverty and improving their quality of life, which in turn effects the community and the country in a positive way.
