Overview

Volunteer with us and immerse yourself in rural village life in Busembatia! This village in Iganga District, Uganda, is where WIL Uganda works both in school and in the local community, to promote women’s and girls’ education and economic empowerment. By working in both the office and in the field, you will have the chance to run your own projects and design your own workshops. Would you like to volunteer as part of your university course? We will work one-on-one with your university to provide academic credit for your internship as needed.

Accommodation

You’ll be living in the middle of the community in our dorm style volunteer house in Busembatia village. Alternatively, you can choose to stay with a host family with dinner included. This will be an extra £100 per month. Check out our video about living with a host family here. The village has a great little market where you can get fresh veggies, fruit and other daily supplies. Nearby towns Jinja and Iganga are easily accessible by local taxi. Jinja town is a tourist hot spot with lots of activities such as white water rafting, kayaking, bungee jumping, quad biking and a great nightlife. Your introduction week will include trainings as well as exploration of the village and Jinja.
