Overview

Hiking in the stunning Himalayan Mountains through the oldest trial of Bhutan, Paro to Thimphu can be breath-taking. The Druk Path Trek is a 4-day trekking & Camping that begins at Dopshari, Paro and ends at Thimpu. This trek is the best way to see the natural wonders that lay between the two important cities- Paro and Thimpu. The hills, mountains, and cliffs- you can have the time of your vacation while you are on this vacation. Through the forests and over the mountains and seeing villages and religious monasteries en route, you can grab the real nature’s spirit while at this trek.

Apart from the trek, you will also be visiting the famous Tiger’s nest located at an elevation of 10,000 feet above the ground level & visiting few cultural sights to give you the glimpse of Bhutan.

  • Day 1 - Explore Paro Valley

    Fly to Paro. After visa formalities at the Paro airport, your guide will meet you and drive you into town for lunch.

    After lunch you can visit the following historical places :

    Paro Rinpung Dzong is literally translated as the Fortress on the heap of jewels. It is the administrative seat of Paro District and the annual Paro festival is held here.

    Ta Dzong: It was built as a watchtower. It was converted into a national museum in 1968. You can witness the finest specimen of Bhutanese art, masterpieces of bronze statues and paintings.

    In the evening you all can visit Namgay Artisanal Brewery and try out different flavors of beer manufactured there or you can stroll in Paro town.

  • Day 2 - Drukpath Trek Begins (3 Nights & 4 Days) Paro To Jele Dzong (3,450 Meters)

    The first day of the trek is a gradual climb from Dopshari, Paro at 2,300 meters above the sea level till 3,450 meters at Jele Dzong. Camp the night at Jele Dzong and if the weather favors you can see Paro valley with Mt. Jumolhari (7,314 meters) and snowcapped mountains behind the valley.

    Walking Time: 4-5 Hours

  • Day 3 - Jele Dzong – Tshokam (3,692 Meters)

    The trek starts with a short climb and then passes through a thick alpine forest of rhododendron and gradually climbs till we reach the camp where you may see yak herders around your campsite.

    After 3 hours is a possible campsite (Dorjo Lakha or Jangchu Lakha (3,770m)). After another 1-hour climb, the better campsite. Tshokam is reached, just after a small saddle.

    Walking Time: 6-7 hrs

    Distance: 5.5 miles.

    Overnight: Campsite at Tshokam.

  • Day 4 - Tshokam- Simkotra (4,040M)

    The trek that we are following will be a gradual descend till we reach Pangrithang which will take us a little more than an hour where we will reach by the river then there is some steep climbing through bushes for two hours, after sometime a good view will open up and we will reach Jane tsho ( Lake)( 3956m). It is usually occupied by yak herders. Again, we climb a gentle slope for an hour and after another two hours of trek we will reach our camp site.

    Distance :6 miles.

  • Day 5 - Simkotra- Thimphu (2,340M)

    The trail is good but there are few minor climb to small passes before you finally look down to Phajoding monastery and Thimphu. Monks frequently passes here on their way to meditate at the sacred lake Jimilang tsho. After almost 2 -3 hours trek, we will reach the highest pass which stands at an altitude of 4420m. There is good view over the last part of the trek: a steep descent to Phajoding monastery. From here the trails starts with the steep descending slowly through thick forest for another 2-3 hours until we reach the motor road. From here, drive down to Thimphu, passing the Thimphu Zoo, where some Takins (National Animal of Bhutan) can be seen. Then say good bye to trekking team and then drive to hotel.

    You may reach Thimphu towards the evening- if not tired you can take a stroll in Thimphu town and visit authentic craft bazar where you can buy Bhutanese souvenir.

  • Day 6 - Thimphu - Paro (Paro Taktsang Hike/ 4-6 Hours)

    In the morning drive to Kuenselphodrang where world’s tallest Buddha Statue (169 feet) sits overlooking the Thimphu Valley. Enjoy the spectacular view of Thimphu city. Stop by National Memorial Chorten and head towards Paro .

    Hike to Tiger’s Nest / Taktsang Monastery: The Taktsang, popularly known as the “Tiger’s Nest” is perched on the side of a cliff at a height of 900m above the Paro valley. It is considered as a signature spot for the tourist. It is a Gem of a Paro Valley.

    Later we will try out a traditional hot stone bath which could be relaxing after days hike. Try out a dinner in a Farm house. If you like you can choose to have a local archery match.

  • Day 7 - Departure

    Our team will drop you to the airport and bid you farewell.
