  • Day 1 - Mokoro Trails- Island Camping - 1 - 5 Nights

Transfer from Maun to mokoro station on the edge of the Okavango Delta, 45 minutes

Take to the water on your mokoro, with all camping gear and your experienced Poler/guides. From the low vantage point of a Mokoro you get to experience a local tradition that has defined the way safaris are run in the Okavango Delta. Learn from your local guide about their heritage and discover their in depth knowledge of the area and its flora and fauna, you will get a deep insight into this otherwise inaccessible wilderness.

Pole your way out to your first camping site where you and your camp team will set up camp for the night, in dome tents and camping stretchers. A table and chairs are set up under a tree or out in the open wher you can enjoy the views.

Our Mokoro trails into the Okavango Delta range from a one night excursion up to five nights camping out under the vast African sky. As you explore the channels, lagoons and remote islands by mokoro or on foot [no vehicles or game drives], you will discover a whole new world. The guides have a wealth of knowledge of the area and eagerly share the stories of their people and related folk-tales. Their first-hand experience of the area’s wildlife is an incredible gift they readily share, as they pole along the unspoiled waterways.

Camps are set up especially for each party and taken down at the end to ensure that there is no footprint on the environment. Get close to the earth with bucket showers being utilised in addition to a pit latrine, dug in the ground.

A private chef accompanies each camping party to prepare fresh and delicious meals. Dinner is served around a roaring campfire, under the starry African sky.
