Overview
A 2 day wildlife tour of Ghana, visiting the Shai Hills Resource Reserve, the Volta River, Sajuna beach and the habituated Mona monkeys at Tafi Atome. Includes birding at the Aburi Botanical Gardens as well as a traditional glass bead, and the craft market at Aburi.
- Day 1 - Shai Hills Resource Reserve, Handmade Beads, Volta River
Morning pick-up in an air-conditioned vehicle: Accra location of your choice.
Depart the environs of metropolitan Accra for the Shai Hills Resource Reserve.
Morning sightings of baboons, birds, butterflies and antelope. Ascend the lookout rock.
Continue to a traditional bead making workshop and learn how glass powder is mixed with a little water and then baked and painted onto the beads.Relax and enjoy the swimming pools and activities at the Sajuna Beach Club.
Socialize in the busy river village and take a walk across the Adomi Bridge.
Dugout canoe ride with a local, or motorboat to the Akosombo Dam for an extra fee.

Morning crossing of the Volta River to continue north into the lush Volta Region.
Visit the monkey sanctuary at Tafi Atome for fun with habituated Mona monkeys.
Which can be fed with bananas while on your shoulder. You will also hear the history of the monkeys and how they are venerated in this village.
