Overview
This trip is designed for the need of a one day tour to Jökulsárlón iceberg lagoon.
Jökulsárlón and Diamond Beach are places of magic, maybe some of the most stunning places on the planet. The Diamond Beach of Iceland is located in the south-western part of Iceland. It is situated at a distance of six hours from the capital city of Iceland. Also, it is just next to the very famous Jokulsarlon glacier lagoon, that means two beautiful places in Iceland can be covered in one go.
During the summer and the shoulder season, you can take an optional boat tour among the icebergs of the lagoon (not included in the tour price). You can either take a zodiac boat or the amphibian boat tour, and both are magical experiences. The freezing cold glacial water is a stunning blue. This is a place that really must be visited to be truly understood and appreciated!
Mother Nature has one more gift for us to enjoy here. The smaller icebergs break free from the lagoon and are pulled out to the Atlantic by the tide. There, these millennial bergs stay until they either melt or are pulled back out to sea.
The ice blocks sit on the most stunning jet black velvety fine volcanic beach sand. All these icebergs on the beach, on the black sand, combined with the power of the waves and the sunlight reflecting through and off the bergs create a place that is so magical it will literally leave you speechless. Just like diamonds on black velvet. Thus it is called “Diamond Beach”.
The beach is a black sand beach with chunks of white icebergs (that appear like diamonds) scattered all over the beach. The beach looks totally surreal with these ice crystals over the moist black sand. This could be an ideal place to spend the evening and play with the colourful ice chunks.
The local name for the diamond beach Iceland is Breiðamerkursandur as the glacier originates from the Breiðamerkurjökull, an outlet of Europe’s largest glacier Vatnajökull. There is also the facility of boating on the glacial river lagoon. The diamond beach Iceland tour and Jokulsarlon lagoon tour are the most favourites place of the tourists who come to visit Iceland throughout the year. The ice chunks that are found are of different colours, from blue to turquoise and white. They just look surreal, especially in the night time.
Another popular attraction of our Diamond Beach and Jokulsarlon Iceland tour is Ice lagoon due to its breathtaking view. This is an achingly beautiful spot that one simply must not miss. The views of the ice in the water with the glacier in the background are quite spectacular, especially if the sun is shining. You can also go to see the icebergs heading out to see at the nearby beach. This is certainly a must-do in Iceland. One must see this place to believe the beauty of nature.
During deep winter we will be travelling in the dark for the most part.

After a very early departure from Reykjavík, we head straight for the promontory of Dyrhólaey. Dyrholaey, which is a little landmass/peninsula on the south bank/coast of Iceland, is renowned for its a prominent and natural arch. It offers an incredible sight of the black sand shorelines/beaches around the town Vik, the black magma segments Reynisdrangar and to the north, where the compelling spring of gushing lava Katla rests under the glacier Myrdalsjokull. The entire coastline west of Dyrholaey is completely visible and you can easily see all the way towards Selfoss town but it’s possible only on a clear day.
Next, we move towards to the black-sand beach of Reynisfjara. This is one of the most popular beaches in the world and is known for its black sand. It is quite popular for its wild and mesmerising beauty where the roaring waves of the Atlantic Ocean ashore with tremendous force. In 1991, Reynisfjara showed up among the top ten rundowns of the most beautiful non-tropical shorelines on the planet, and it is extremely simple to perceive any reason why it was picked in our Diamond Beach Iceland tour!
Depending on the velocity of your driving, it takes around 2.5 hours from Reykjavik to Reynisfjara Black Beach which is situated on the South Coast of Iceland. Planning a day trip from Reykjavik to Reynisfjara Black Beach in Iceland can be quite feasible and if you are also planning to visit its south coast, then there are many tours in Iceland which will fall in your way.
Not only this Reynisfjara is effectively perhaps the busiest shorelines of Iceland since it is so effectively available thus prominent! When looking south directly from there, the next land would be Antarctica.
We will also see two more of the main highlights of the South Coast, such as the waterfalls Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss.
Skogafoss is one of the beautiful and biggest waterfalls in the country. It is located near the village Skogar with a width of 25 meters. The waterfall consistently produces a single or double rainbow (which is a must-see) due to spray on a sunny day. The river below Skogafoss is a favourite place for many people during summers. Hiking is one of the major attraction of people to visit Skogafoss. Some people like to camp in the camping area of Skogafoss in their diamond beach Iceland tour, some rent a cabin and rest prefer hotels. There are many sightseeing places as well as adventurous activities that can be done around Skogafoss. It is an amazing place to stop and cherish the beauty of nature.
This is one of the most popular places to visit in our Diamond Beach Iceland Tour package. Iceland has more than a hundred waterfalls to offer, but this fall has a unique feature as it allows you to walk behind it. The water that flows down the fall comes from the melting water of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. As said above, this fall in the Diamond Beach Iceland Tour attracts a lot of tourists to take a careful walk behind the curtain of the fall. Do not forget to take your cameras to click some amazing pictures. The fall is about 20 miles distant from the Skogafoss.
Your guide will like to include some secret stops along the way, as time and weather conditions allow. We hope that at the end of the trip you’ll be as pleased as tired?
