- Day 1 - Arrive in Ireland/Transfer to Reykjavik and the Golden Circle
When you arrive at Keflavik International Airport, our guide will meet you and provide you with a private transfer to Reykjavik (approximately 1 hour). After a short break for breakfast and preparation for the excursion, we will set off from Reykjavik along the Golden Circle route.
The first stop will be at Thingvellir National Park. The park is renowned for its beauty and for being the site of the first parliament in the world, founded by locals during the Viking Age.
Our next stop will be at the Haukadalur geothermal area, where you will find Strokkur, the most active geyser in Iceland, bursting a mix of steam and hot water up to 20-30 m/65-100 ft every 5-10 minutes.
Next, we will continue our journey to Gullfoss, Iceland’s second-largest waterfall. When we get close enough to the waterfall, you can feel the fresh mist on your face.
With this, the three main attractions of the famous Golden Ring are explored. However, our tour will not end there, and we will visit the Fridheimar greenhouse to taste fresh tomato dishes in a cozy greenhouse.
Another stop along the way we make at the Kerid crater. The steep slopes of the crater are about 55 m/180 ft deep and resemble an ancient amphitheater, and the bottom of the crater is filled with water, forming a small lake. On the way back, we will drive through the Hellisheidi mountain pass and return to Reykjavik.
Duration of 10 hours. Driving distance 310 km/194 miles. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.
- Day 2 - Waterfalls and Black Sand Beaches of the South Coast
The South Coast reveals many hidden spots and shows both the green and icy side of Iceland. On this day we will discover the magical Seljalandsfoss waterfall (63 m/210 ft) and will be able to walk behind without getting completely wet. In the same area, we will also visit Glufrabui, the beautiful waterfall hidden in a gorge.
After enjoying these two amazing falls, we will head towards another beautiful and powerful waterfall, Skogafoss (60 m/195 ft) high. Even from a distance, you will feel its power. And to observe Skogafoss from above, we climb the long stairs to the observation deck above to enjoy views from different angles.
Our next area on this day is the most picturesque and unique for Iceland – the southern cape of Dirholaey and the mysterious black sand Reynisfjara beach with basalt columns and Reinisdrangar cliffs towering above the water in front of the beach.
On the way back to Reykjavik, we will stop at the Solheimajokull glacier, the source of the Myrdalsjokull glacier. Here we take a walk along the trail from the parking lot to the glacier, which was partially covered in ash from the 2010 eruption of the Eyjafjallajokull volcano. After this stop, we will return to Reykjavik.
Duration of 10 hours. Driving distance 400 km/250 miles. Overnight stay in Reykjavik.
- Day 3 - Blue Lagoon and transfer to Keflavik airport/Departure
Your Iceland adventure comes to a close today. After checking out from your hotel in Reykjavik, we shall provide you a private transfer to Keflavik airport. If your flight is in the afternoon, you will still have time to visit the Blue Lagoon geothermal resort to relax in the warm mineral water before the flight (visit to the lagoon is optional, not included in the price).
The Blue Lagoon is recognized by National Geographic as one of the 25 Wonders of the World and is a unique source of geothermal seawater. The water temperature in the lagoon does not change all year round and is around 38-40°C/100-104°F. After visiting the lagoon, we shall take you to the airport (transfer approx. 20 min) to catch the plane and keep the best memories of the wonderful days in Iceland that you will never forget.
