Overview
Starting in Tokyo and ending in Osaka, this six-day, guided, sightseeing tour takes you around Tokyo and Osaka. Japan is a melting pot of ancient culture and ultra-modern technology and this tour will introduce you to the futuristic buildings and sci-fi techs in Tokyo as well as the cultural landmarks of Osaka.
Enjoy the panoramic view of Tokyo’s bay area and see its national garden that was formerly a private garden of the royal family. Marvel at the view of Nijubashi Bridge and pay your tributes in the Senso-ji temple. You can also go on a shopping spree in the Nakamise shopping street. Take a boat cruise in Asakusa and the Sumida River.
Experience a bullet train ride from Tokyo to Osaka and see the beautiful Mount Fuji from Mount Fuji Fifth Station. For more details, please go through the itinerary below.
- Day 1 - Arrival in Tokyo
You will be transferred to your hotel on arrival by a limousine bus. You are free for the rest of the day.
- Day 2 - Tokyo Tour
Your pickup service today will be provided by a bus between 12:15 pm and 13:20 pm. Gather at designated locations (hotels in Tokyo) and board the bus bound for Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal. Walk to the World Trade Center Building from Hamamatsucho Bus Terminal and visit Seaside Top Observatory. Spend 20 minutes on the observation deck and enjoy a panoramic view of Tokyo's bay area from a height of 152 metres.
Your next destination is Imperial Palace Plaza, where you will spend around ten minutes. Admire the view of Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden, which was formerly a private garden of Japan's royal family. Also see the iconic Nijubashi Bridge as well as the imperial palace itself.
Drive by Ginza, home to luxury brand shops as well as fast fashion retailers. You will get to spend 45 minutes at Senso-ji Temple and Nakamise Shopping Street. Senso-ji is Tokyo's oldest temple and it has plenty to see including the bright red Kaminarimon Gate and a five-story pagoda. The bustling street of Nakamise" stretches for about 250 m from Kaminarimon Gate to Senso-ji Temple and is filled with a plethora of shops.
Head for Asakusa next and enjoy a boat cruise in the Sumida River cruise (this will last for around 40 minutes). Please let us know as soon as you have booked the trip if you want to include this cruise well. Whether or not the river cruise will take place is determined by the river conditions on the day and may not be available even if you book it. You will be informed about any changes in the itinerary.
The schedule of Sumida River cruise changes during the cherry blossom season (expected to start from mid-March and last till early April). During this time, the tour guide might replace Sumida River cruise with a cherry blossom viewing at Sumida Park due to congestion.
In case the river cruise does take place, you will disembark at Hinode Pier at 5:30 pm. Catch a bus and travel back to your hotel. The tour ends at Tokyo Station (Marunouchi South Exit). Please note that there is no drop-off service to hotels after the tour ends at Tokyo Station.
- Day 3 - Mount. Fuji Tour
Meet your tour guide at the check-in counter located on the third floor of Keio Plaza Hotel's main tower in Shinjuku. This tower is around five minutes away by foot from JR Shinjuku Station (West Exit). Please make sure to reach the counter by 8:50 am and present your reservation confirmation sheet at the counter for check-in.
The bus will depart at 9:00 am. Deboard the bus at Mount Fuji Fifth Station for sightseeing around the area. The fifth station is located 2,300 m above sea level. Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding area as well as the iconic peak.
In case we are unable to proceed to the fifth station due to bad road conditions on the Fuji Subaru Line, or if the road is blocked due to accidents or weather conditions, we will take you to the highest possible point. However, there will be an alternate itinerary in case we are unable to proceed farther than the first station.
The alternative tour involves a visit to Lake Kawaguchi (between 12:40 pm to 13:40 pm). Savor a Japanese-style lunch at Oshino-mura while admiring a stunning view of the majestic Mount Fuji from a ninja theme park, which recently opened in autumn 2015.
Then head for Yamanakako Onsen next. Experience a natural alkaline hot spring bath and see a beautiful view of Mount Fuji while enjoying a relaxing soak in the open-air bath. Towel rental at Yamanakako Onsen is available for a fee but we recommend that you bring your own towel. Please remove your towel before entering the baths. Bathing in a swimsuit is not allowed. The regulations of Yamanashi prefecture prohibits people with tattoos from bathing in hot springs.
Next, spend around two hours (between 3:40 pm and 5:40 pm) exploring Gotemba Premium Outlets, the largest shopping outlet in Japan. You can shop in the outlet with Mount Fuji in the background. Please note that depending on traffic conditions, the time spent at the outlet may be reduced to less than 120 minutes. No cancellation or refund will be provided in case of reduction in the allocated time.
- Day 4 - Tokyo to Osaka by Bullet Train
We will provide you with the bullet train ticket to Osaka, where you will have to travel from Tokyo on your own.
- Day 5 - Walking tour in Osaka
Your walking trip starts at around 12:40 pm from Hotel Granvia Osaka. From there you will travel to Higashi-Umeda Station by foot, followed by Temmabashi Station. Enjoy around an hour-long sightseeing tour of Osaka Castle. This castle was founded in the 16th century by Hideyoshi Toyotomi, a powerful shogun during the Sengoku period.
Next, hop on a water bus and sail along the Ogawa River for 60 minutes. See various landmarks and historic spots along the river. In case the water bus is out of service due to bad weather or other operational reasons, we will take you to the Osaka Museum of History instead. If it is Tuesday, when the museum is closed, the cost of the water bus will be refunded by your tour guide
(the refund amount is JPY 1,360 per adult and JPY 680 per child).Transfer from Osakajokoen Station to Osaka Station at 4:15 pm (JR local train, non-reserved seat). Today's tour comes to an end on arrival at Osaka Station at 4:45 pm.
- Day 6 - Departure Day
Time to head home. Take the limousine bus transfer to Kansai Airport.
