Overview

This 8 days and 7 nights classic Family Journey in Luang Prabang is specially curated to the travelers who want to explore Laos with their small children. The tour is lead by highly experienced English speaking guide and can accommodate 3 to 14 people in a single tour.

  • Day 1 - Arrival in Luang Prabang

    Arrival in Luang Prabang, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your driver will pick you up at the airport and then drop you at your hotel. Free time to rest.

  • Day 2 - Luang Prabang by bike, its temples and markets

    Cultural tour of the city by bike with the guide: morning market, Royal Palace, Vat Mai, Vat Sene, Vat Xiengthong, Vat Visoun. Walk through the historic sector, then visit Ban XangKhong, to discover how to make paper "Sa" from mulberry. Climb up the 328 steps of Mount Phousi to admire the magnificent panorama. Visit of the night market in the main street.

  • Day 3 - Hiking at KuangSi waterfalls

    At sunrise, volunteers can attend the traditional ceremony of almsgiving to the monks (without guide). Then, departure by minivan on the mountain tracks to reach and visit a village of the Hmong ethnic group. Hike in the nature for 3h until the springs of the impressive Kuang Si waterfalls located in the middle of the jungle. Afternoon free at the waterfalls, swimming, visit of the bear sanctuary.

  • Day 4 - Pottery workshop and visit of ancient temples

    On the banks of the Mekong facing Luang Prabang, the atmosphere, far from the tourists, is totally different. Morning at the pottery village of Ban Chane and pottery workshop with a craftsman. He will show where they collect the clay, how they work it, the techniques of modelling and baking, ... In the afternoon, visit of the temples Vat Xiengmène, Vat Chomphet and Vat Longkhoun. These offer spectacular views of Luang Prabang.

  • Day 5 - Local meeting with the Khamu ethnic group

    Traditional slow boat cruise on the Mekong. On the way, visit of the PakOu caves that host thousands of Buddha statues. Arrival at the Kamu Lodge around 12h and settlement in your tents converted into rooms. Afternoon to relax or discover the traditional way of life of the Khamu ethnic group. Optional activities: rice planting and harvesting, gold panning, traditional fishing, village tour, archery competition. Typical Khamu dinner.

  • Day 6 - Discovery of rice cultivation

    Free morning to enjoy this exceptional place and the various activities offered. Lunch in the middle of rice fields, before boarding on the boat at 2pm for the way back to Luang Prabang. Arrival in the middle of the afternoon, check-in at the hotel. Rest of the day is free of activities.

  • Day 7 - Day with Elephants & Tad Sae Waterfalls

    Visit of the elephant camp "Elephant village camp", with the company of these huge animals. The mahouts will explain their job and their very particular relationship with the pachyderms. A bareback ride on the back of an elephant. It's a unique experience! The day continues with a small boat ride to reach the beautiful Tad Sae waterfalls with turquoise water (from August to the end of December). Free time to swim and relax.
