Overview
Leaving from Fort-de-France, our first stop is the Balata church, a miniature replica of the Sacre Coeur basilica in Paris. We then drive through the lush rainforest, and stop shortly at the pretty Alma – river at the foot of the Carbet-mountains. Our next stop is the Pelée-volcano. We drive up the volcano to a parking, from where the hike trail starts. From there a 5 min walk takes us to a viewpoint, from where you’ll be able to see all the north of the island on a clear day. After we will visit Depaz-distillery, the garden and the rum boutique where you can taste and buy excellent agricole rum. Follows a visit in the historical town of St. Pierre and the volcanological museum as well as the ruins of the theater. Also a short stop at the fruit market and the old stock market. After we head back to Fort-de-France through the Caribbean coast passing quaint fishing villages like Carbet and Bellefontaine.
Martinique is a beautiful island combines the best of European culture with exotic beaches and palm trees. It’s a tropical island yet it will surprise you with its enjoyable food, and great bread, wine and cheese imported from France.
