Overview
The perfect way to getting to know Bratislava and its surroundings. Cycle in all four directions, from the historic city center to the wild banks of the Danube and Morava rivers, and explore the variety of landscapes surrounding this city on the border with Austria and Hungary. You will take a trip through history from the Roman times to post-socialist Slovakia. The forested hills, the lively wine cities on the sunny hill slopes and the endless fields dotted with small villages will all be yours to discover.
- Day 1 - Bratislava
Individual arrival or sight-seeing day in Bratislava.
- Day 2 - Bratislava – Hainburg an der Donau – Bratislava (55 km)
The first tour takes you from the city center along Europe´s second longest river to the castle ruins of Devín. Across the Morava river you will discover Schlosshof and the Donau-Auen national park in Austria. On the other side of the Danube you will cross the medieval city of Hainburg an der Donau with its Roman archaeological finds. Crossing the former iron curtain back into Slovakia leads you back to Bratislava.
- Day 3 - Bratislava – Hungary – Austria – Bratislava (56 km)
Three countries in one day, that will be on your path today. On your way to Hungary you will see the roman archaeological site of Rusovce and its manor house. After a short passage through Hungary you cross into Austria at the tri-point. Through the fields you reach Kittsee with its old and new castle. Shortly after you will be back in the bustling center of Bratislava.
- Day 4 - Bratislava – Šamorín – Bratislava (63 km)
On the northern banks of the Danube you head south enjoying the beautiful views on the river. After a short stop in the cosy town of Šamorín you will cycle from village to village through the fields, quietly making your way back to Bratislava.
- Day 5 - Bratislava – Pezinok – Bratislava (64 km)
On the last cycling day you will head north along Maly Dunaj, the small and wilder brother of the Danube. Through the fields you will reach Bernolakovo and its beautiful manor house. A little further you will reach the foothills of the Little Carpathians and the historic wine cities located there. Through the vineyards you will reach Bratislava again.
