Overview
Mikumi National Park was established in 1964 covering an area of 1070 square kilometers; it was later extended in 1975 to cover the current area of 3,230 square kilometers. Mikumi National Park is sharing a common border and ecosystem with Nyerere NP to the south. The park is the seventh largest National Park in Tanzania and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam throughout the year.
This is short private safari starting from Dar es Salaam and ending in Dar es Salaam. In this tour you can stay in standard and very clean accommodation located inside Mikumi National Park and owned by Tanzania National Park. We have option of upgrading to luxury accommodation inside the Park.
- Day 1 - Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park.
Pick up from the hotel at 06h00 and start drive to Mikumi National Park which is approximately 5 hours’ drive.
You will arrive for game drive in Mikumi NP until lunch time where you will drive to the cottage for hot lunch. After lunch you will proceed with game drive in Mikumi NP until sunset.Animals commonly found in this park Include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra and elephants and many more. Wild dog can be seen in packs here. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.
Accommodation: TANAPA Tourist Cottage (inside the Park).
Meals Plan: Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. - Day 2 - Morning game drive then drive back to Dar es Salaam
Wake up for early morning game drive starting from 06:15am until 08:00am then drive back to the cottage for breakfast. After breakfast you will continue with game drive until 11:00am then you will start driving back to Dar es Salaam. You will stop on the way for hot lunch.
On arrival in Dar es Salaam your driver guide will drop you off at place of your choice.Accommodation: own arrangement (not included)
