Overview
Queen Elizabeth is Uganda’s most visited National Park covering approximately 1978 square kilometers and is located in the western side of the country, approximately 389 kilometers away from Kampala, the Capital city. It is classified a variety of wildlife and diverse eco systems which are composed of sprawling savannah, sparkling lakes, lush wetlands, and shady humid forests. This is why its is also called “A Medley of Wonders,” there is much more than what meets the eye.
The park is home to about 100 mammal species, around 606 bird species; you will be amazed by its vast number of antelopes, buffalos, hippopotamus, elephants, warthogs among others. Also, the tree climbing lions and leopards in the cat family. The major highlight of the trip is a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, a wide 32km long Natural channel that links Lakes Edward and George. The channel is a dominant feature and attracts a varied range of animals and birds; and has one of the world’s largest concentrations of Hippos and numerous crocodiles. The park is also home to the Chimpanzees in the Kyambura gorge, Tree climbing lions in the Ishasha Sector, crater lakes and various birds and monkeys in the Maramagambo forest.
Travel from your base in Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Departure to Kampala
- Day 1 - Travel from Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Wake up early morning, have breakfast after which you will be picked up by your guide at around 7:30 who will brief you and then embark on the 6 hours Journey to Queen Elizabeth National park.
Along the way, you will have a few stop overs at the equator, here you will take a couple of photographs and proceed before stopping in Mbarara City for Lunch.
Thereafter proceed to the park, as you drive through the spectacular landscapes characterized with open grassland, Ankole long horned cattle, tea plantations, the rift Valley escarpment and various woodlands.
Reach the park late in the afternoon and have a game drive as you drive to your lodge. Have dinner and spend overnight.
- Day 2 - Morning Game Drive and Afternoon boat safari
Begin your day with a delicious cup of coffee/ tea before getting on with the game drive on different trails in the park including the famous Kasenyi trail.
Along Kasenyi trail, there is a great opportunity of seeing various animals like water bucks, Uganda Kobs, elephants, buffalo, lions, warthogs as well as various birds. After the drive, go back and have breakfast.
Later during the midmorning break, you will take pleasure in cruising on a 2 hours boat safari along Kazinga channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. while on the boat cruise, you will see a good number of hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, elephants and a collection of birds like the malachite king fisher, pick backed pelicans on the the banks and in trees.
Later in the afternoon after lunch, we shall drive to Fort Portal (the Tourism City of Uganda), via Kasese. Along the way, you will see spectacular landscapes and we shall spend a night in Fort Portal. Have dinner and Overnight.
- Day 3 - Depature to Kampala
With superb memories of the past two days, you will enjoy a tasty breakfast. Then check out of the hotel, you could choose to visit Amabeere Caves, Toro Kingdom Palace and Crater lakes.
Enjoy your lunch along the way, we may make several stops along the way, more especially in Kibale Forest National Park.
