Overview

This 6 days tour to Rwanda & Uganda will take you Volcanoes National Park where you will hike to the Dian Fossey grave site (tomb), visit the local Batwa community in Nkuringo, Bwindi forest to trek gorillas, search for golden monkeys in Mgahinga National Park and final return to Kigali and pay a visit to the genocide memorial center.

  • Day 1 - Transfer from Kigali to Musanze

    Our company tour guide will pick you up from the Airport and transfer to you to Volcanoes National Park driving through a beautiful countryside and a home to the mountain gorillas. Later take a visit to the Twin Lakes of Burera and Ruhondo. These Magnificent twin lakes of Burera and Ruhondo and its Swamp Rugezi are the excellent photogenic, serene and scenic places for Bird watching activity.

  • Day 2 - Trek to Dian Fossey Tomb (Grave)

    The hike aims to give tourists a learning experience about the works of the famous American primatologist and conservationist, Dian Fossey, who dedicated her life to research about the mountain gorillas. She set up a research camp in the valley between Mount Karisimbi and Mount Bisoke hence the name ‘Karisoke’. Her works to protect the mountains gorillas and their habitat would lead her into conflict with negative forces including poachers and she was eventually killed. She was buried among the gorillas near her Karisoke Research Center.

    The hike is done in the morning. You report to the park office in Kinigi at 7am to the meet the ranger guides for briefing and at about 8am drive for about 30 minutes to the base of the Mount Bisoke where the trekking starts just outside the park at the car parking. A walking stick will be provided at the starting point, free of charge, and porters will found here that you can hire to carry your bags and provide some support along the hike.

  • Day 3 - Volcanoes National Park - Bwindi National Park/ Buniga Forest Trail Walk

    This 3 hours walk is truly an experience. Not challenging at all but rather informative and exciting, it is an eye opener to see how the Batwa managed to survive in the forest.

    The Walk is guided by the local Batwa – an indigenous group of people who formerly lived a nomadic life in the gorilla forests of the Great Lakes region of Africa. While on the nature walk through the forest, tourists benefit from the Batwa’s extensive forest knowledge and survival skills, passed from one generation to the next.

    The Walk includes a 1 km walk through the Buniga Forest fragment, followed by a visit to the Sanuriiro settlement, 5 km distance,

    to allow you to meet the Batwa both then and now.

  • Day 4 - Gorilla Tracking in Bwindi Forest National Park

    Early breakfast, proceed with packed lunch and a bottle of water into the tropical rain forest for gorilla trekking activity. Receive prior briefing by the ranger officials then head straight into the forest. The trek is unpredictable and could last up to 6 or more hours. Watch these creatures as they feed, play and grumble to each other while you take their pictures. Dinner and overnight at your booked lodge.

  • Day 5 - Golden monkey trekking - visit Kigali genocide memorial center

    After breakfast transfer to the Mgahinga National Park headquarters for briefing and later begin the hike over the volcanic terrain in search for Golden Monkeys in the bamboo forests. Mgahinga National Park shares borders with Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda and Virunga National Park in DR Congo. The park is also the most scenic as it stands at three volcanoes of Muhavura, Gahinga and Sabyinyo.

    After golden monkey tracking, you drive back to Kigali, take a visit to Kigali Genocide Memorial Center.

  • Day 6 - Departure

    After breakfast, proceed to the airport for your departure flight.
