Support for Refugees

The Budumburam camp is a refugee camp for Liberian refugees during the Liberian civil war. Some of the citizens came to seek asylum in Ghana and they were settled at Budumburam district in Ghana by the UNHCR. After the civil war they were repatriated back to their home country. Not all could go back because they have lost traces to their families. Some of these were children whose parents are alive but may be incapacitated or have no work doing making them live in abject poverty. A school and care centre have been established to give education and care for the refugee children. This school is under resource, there is little or no text books, lack of teachers etc. Volunteers are needed to help the few teachers to give lessons to the children, Volunteers don't need to be qualified teachers, volunteers just need to have an open heart and arm to care for the children.

Childcare volunteers will work with babies and toddlers at the creche and kindergarten. They will help caregivers, sing song, rhymes and organise circles time with the kids. They will help children to do scribbling, how to identify objects etc. They also help to feed and put the children to sleep. Teaching Volunteers will work with children from Kindergarten to Junior High school, They can assist Teachers in any of these subjects base on their interest; French, English, science, Mathematics, Georgraphy and Creative Art . Volunteers will always have a teacher with them in the class but when volunteers are comfortable to run their own lessons they will be allowed to teach alone.
