Veterinary Volunteer
Highlights
- Be part of a team that takes care of rescued wildlife, some of which are on the brink of extinction. Level of experience and knowledge demonstrated will determine how hands on your volunteering will be.
- Around 400 animals across 59 different species means a varied case load, externs will have the opportunity to see how different procedures are performed on different species.
- We only accept 2 veterinary externs/vet technicians/vet nurses at any one time, this means you have plenty of opportunity to learn from our experienced vet team.
- Our volunteer bungalows, and local resort, are perfect for relaxing after a hard day's work or on your day off.
Overview
Are you a veterinary medicine student, qualified vet, vet nurse or vet tech looking to gain new experience working with wildlife?
Come and join the LCTW team as a Veterinary Volunteer, honing and sharing your skills in our wildlife hospital! As you shadow our wildlife veterinarians you’ll get to assist them in a variety of procedures across a huge range of wildlife, including many unique and endemic animals native to Laos.
Be prepared to be kept on your toes, as no day is ever the same for our vet team. At any time, we could receive a rescued animal or a huge confiscation of wildlife in need of urgent care, or have an animal which needs critical veterinary attention in our centre. On crucial days like these, your help and support to our vet team will prove invaluable to getting the job done.
We also encourage vet student volunteers to conduct their own independently-driven research projects during their time here.
If this exciting environment sounds like the place for you, apply today to secure your spot!
