Mainland Yemen Tour

An early start and a drive from Salalah to the Yemeni border (3 hours). Once border formalities are completed we will have the option of taking a walk along the coast to where we will stop for lunch.
Then we will drive along the coast to the town of Al Ghayda.
Overnight in Al Ghayda.

A morning in Al Ghayda to look at the Somali fisherman’s district. Then drive to Al Mukallah.
En route, we may stop for a short boat ride at the small port town of Nishtun.
Dinner and overnight in Al Mukallah.

A morning in Al Mukallah visiting the old city and the Sultan’s palace. If time there will be a short boat ride in the harbour.
Drive over the barren Jawl to Wadi Dawan.

A day exploring Wadi Dawan, one of the largest valleys full of date palms and small villages. Highlights include Al Hajrain, built on an outcrop of rock in the middle of the Wadi, the small village of Saif and Beit Buqshan, home of the famous coloured palace.

We will spend the day exploring the Wadi Hadramut including visiting Tarim, a town that dates back to the pre-Islamic era and the wonderful mud skyscrapers of Shibam. Overnight in Seiyun.

Transfer to airport. For those joining the add-on to Socotra this will be to Socotra. For the rest to Cairo.
End of trip.
